Michelle, Defiance County utilizes Salary Continuation on a case by case basis. Our policy states "For a period not to exceed 12 weeks". We review the claim every 30 days to determine whether or not to continue the salary continuation or determine if we can bring them back on some type of transitional duty. We have offered Transitional Duty for employees that could work from home or for as little as 2 hours a day in the office and gradually bring them back to a full day. We currently have an employee on salary continuation that will be paid for at least 6 months at the request of their elected official. This is the first time we have had a request like this. It was the elected officials decision to pay the salary for the entire length of medical leave with no transitional duty offered. We are new to Group Retro. Julie Julie A.
