We have a county car for Commissioners' use. If it is not available and a personal car is used, the driver is eligible for reimbursement for mileage (I think the current rate is 51 cents per mile). I believe they use their personal cell phones. County policy allows for an allowance toward the cost of the employee's cell phone plan, but the employee must show that the use of the cell phone is an integral part of their job and that they can not carry out their job responsibilities without it. If a county cell phone is issued, it is strictly for business use, according to policy. Monroe County Commissioners use their personal cell phones and also their personal cars on county business. I am wondering how other counties handle this. Are the Commissioners reimbursed.
