Belmont County Commissioners just adopted a salary schedule for their office employees. There are step increases over 5 years. Clerk position starts at $18 per hour and goes to $20.97. Asst Clerk starts at $9.75 and goes to $11.90. Clerk is 40 hours per week and Assistant is 35 hrs per week. The board has the option of approving annual percent raises over and above the step increases if they choose. In Putnam County the clerk is paid $22.53 per hour and has been here 28 years. There is no assistant clerk, however, the grants/wage coordinator who is also employed in the commissioners office is paid $17.05 an hour and does the necessary work when the clerk is on vacation. Both are paid 80 hours bi-weekly.
