An appointing authority is contemplating creation and implementation of a driver safety incentive. For example, a catered lunch, gift card...etc. for employees that do not have an auto accident on the job for period of time (e.g., 1 yr, 200 workdays) or distance driven (e.g. 10,000 miles). The member asked if other counties currently have such program(s) and, if so, the program specifics. If you would like to anonymously share, please email me directly. Relatedly, please continue to promote defensive driving as we head into the last two months of the year. In the last three months, particularly the holiday season, we see an increase of poor weather/road conditions, distractions, aggressive, and impaired drivers. Also, deer strikes go through the roof. 47% of annual deer strikes occur in the last three months of the year with 21.8% of annual deer strikes take place in November. Since January 1, 2017 there have been over 105,000 auto deer strikes. Attached is a one slide PP with deer strike statistics from 1-1-17 to 11-1-22. As always, thank you for all you do for your respective counties/agencies and CORSA. Be safe.
