Economic Development is handled through a Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), a 501 c 3 organization with powers detailed in Chapter 1724 of the ORC. The CIC serves as the economic development organization (EDO) for Madison County, its townships and municipalities. The CIC promotes a partnership mentality through its mission statement: "Madison County Future, Inc. is a collaborative economic development organization, dedicated to creatively supporting continued growth for the benefit of businesses and people of Madison County". * Do you have a county employee/internal department whose focus is economic development? No * How is the employee funded? N/A * Do you have a Community Improvement Corporation (CIC)? Yes * If yes, how is the CIC used? The CIC serves as the (EDO) of the county. The executive director of the organization works with all communities, including the county, to facilitate business attraction and business growth to benefit the entire Madison County community. * Does the CIC have employees? Yes, one (1) employee * How is the CIC funded? The CIC is funded through public and private contributions. Contributions are received on an annual or quarterly basis. * Does the county contribute any funds to the CIC? Yes * How much input (what percentage of votes) does the county have on the CIC board? 8% (1 of 12). Board membership is 58% public and 42% private. The ORC requires that no less that 40% of the board be made up of public entities. No public entity has more than 1 vote.
