Lori, Washington County coordinates the work assignments for juveniles who have court-ordered community service and are residents of our Juvenile Center. Most work assignments are clean-ups at local parks, work at local food pantries or with non-profit employers. I can provide you with the name and email contact of our Juvenile Center Director for details on the program and paperwork required.
From the risk standpoint, the County has a U-69 contract with the BWC for Workers Comp coverage for the juveniles as well as for the jail inmates who perform community service or work release in lieu of fines and court costs. I report the calculated volunteer hours when reporting the county's payroll and retain the documentation. Details on U-69 contracts and reporting are here: https://www.bwc.ohio.gov/infostation/content/2/2.3/2.3.1.13.htm
