Good Morning everyone; I'd like to ask fellow counties if they are using some type of encryption process to protect healthcare information when sending emails. If so, which process are you using? One of my commissioners forwarded an article (see link below) regarding Skagit County, Washington, and the agreed settlement for potential violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules. While this example is a health department, it does point out the importance to protect the sensitive information we have in our offices.
