Please share how you handle a County vehicle breakdown and subsequent repair while on official business. Does the staff front the money for a repair and get reimbursed? Do all drivers have access to a County credit card? While this rarely happens, it has created an issue recently. Any information is appreciated. Thank you. This has never happened in Wyandot where we were very far from home. We probably would have it towed and billed the Commissioners office. Repairs could then be done locally. I only remember this happening twice over the last 13 years and Medina doesn't have a standard process in place for this situation. On one occasion the individual paid for the repairs and was reimbursed, and in the other they had the vehicle towed and the County was billed directly for the towing and repair. Only a select few departments have credit cards, so this is not an option. Emily, For Lorain County: There is no credit card for this situation. If the employee is able to pay for a repair; they will be reimbursed. But in most cases the employee would contact their department and arrangements would be made to have the vehicle towed back to the county and provide another vehicle to complete their county business (Fleet or Rental). Hi Emily, This has only happened a couple of times in the past. Licking County doesn't have a standard process in place but in the most recent incident the vehicle was towed and we were later billed for the repairs.
