Employment Claims Increase
Employment discrimination charges and lawsuits are on the rise. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) received 88,531 new charges of discrimination in FY 2024, reflecting an increase of more than 9% over FY 2023. The EEOC secured nearly $700 million for charging parties, a 5% increase over FY 2023 and the highest monetary recovery in recent history. The EEOC also filed 57% more merit lawsuits against employers in 2024 versus 2023.
