I hope everyone survived the recent "arctic vortex". I know for me the last three days have squelched my plans to move to Alaska and live off the grid. I found out I really don't like minus 40 windchills. We are starting to see a few claims rolling in for burst/ruptured pipes as a result of the subzero temperatures. This is not a surprise as I am sure some of you are experiencing this on a personal note. In anticipation of the predicted extreme temperature fluctuations the risk management team foresees the potential for more burst pipes. Therefore we have attached the burst pipes precautions document to assist our members in some preventative planning for the upcoming predicted temperature changes. We also anticipate that there may be some localized flooding issues as a result of the rapid thaw that is predicted. We have enclosed an action bulletin that consists of some preventative measures to decrease the chance for loss.
