It is now unlawful for Ohio state agencies and political subdivisions to include on any employment application form any question concerning the applicant's criminal background. Defiance County recently utilized the BWC Safety Intervention grant and purchased a 19' Scissor Lift and a 45' Articulating Boom. We need to implement a safety program for those two pieces of equipment. I was hoping another CORSA member would have a written program for Fall Protection that they would be willing to share. This year the Severe Weather Awareness Week is March 20-26, 2016 and the Ohio Statewide Tornado Drill is Wednesday, March 23rd at 9:50 am. Severe weather is common in Ohio especially in the spring. Every year our members are confronted with many types of severe weather that can and do created risks to both lives and property. Properly preparing for the inevitable severe weather is really the only way to prevent or mitigate these hazards. Here is an excerpt from the attached National Weather Service's (NWS) Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, Lightning... Sometimes we overlook the obvious and simple things, many would be surprised at how often when doing a facility inspection we find a basic "housekeeping" issue. The attached article illustrates some issues and effective tips for mitigating the hazards caused by poor housekeeping. "To some people, the word "housekeeping" calls to mind cleaning floors and surfaces, removing dust, and organizing clutter. But in a work setting, it means much more. Housekeeping is crucial to safe workplaces. It can help prevent injuries and improve productivity and morale, as well as make a good first impression on visitors, according to Cari Gray, safety consultant for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
