Here is a 2nd item from The National Transportation Safety Board's "Most Wanted Transportation Safety Improvements List 2016". The attached section of the report documents another of the most dangerous driving behaviors - FATIGUE-RELATED ACCIDENTS. According to the NTSB "Human fatigue is both a symptom of poor sleep and health management, and an enabler of other impairments, such as poor judgment and decision making, slowed reaction times, and loss of situational awareness and control. Fatigue degrades a person's ability to stay awake, alert, and attentive to the demands of controlling their vehicle safely. To make matters worse, fatigue actually impairs our ability to judge just how fatigued we really are." The National Transportation Safety Board has recently released their "Most Wanted Transportation Safety Improvements List 2016". The attached section of the report documents one of the most dangerous driving behaviors - distracted driving. As you can see from this excerpt from the report distracted driving s is a huge issue impacting all CORSA members: "A 2015 report from State Farm revealed a new staggering trend: nearly 30 percent of drivers surveyed admitted to accessing the Internet while driving." Ice Damming and Attic Condensation

So far we have had a bit of luck this winter with no extended subzero days and nights, but the winter is still young. Every year CORSA experiences significant losses due to ice damming, condensation and frozen pipes. The attached Fact Sheet from Cornell University contains some interesting and valuable information on ice damming and condensation problems along with some guidance on curing a number of these problems. Extracted from the Fact Sheet: "The three factors most directly linked to attic condensation and ice damming problems are leakage of heated air into unheated attic spaces, too little attic insulation, and/or poor installation of attic insulation, and inadequate attic ventilation. Reducing excess sources of moisture in the home and making certain there is adequate spot ventilation in high moisture areas is also important. Doing so will also improve indoor air quality."
